The Birth of Hip Hop
Hip Hop is a style of popular music of US black origin, featuring rap with an electronic backing and hook.
A hip hop enthusiast from New York City has always heard that 1520 Sedgwick Avenue in the Bronx is the birthplace of hip hop which happens to be the most talked about History of Hip hop.
The story goes that on way back to August , 1973 DJ Kool Herc, a building resident in the Bronx NY, was a MC at his sister’s back to school party, and tried something new on the turntable (keyboard): he extended an instrumental beat to let people dance longer (break dancing) and began rapping during the extended break dancing.
This, the most people believes, marked the birth of hip hop. The music led to an entire cultural movement which happens to be the most popular genre of music today it also altered generational thinking – from politics and race to art and language.
Detectives sets out to examine an inner city environment that layed the foundation for a cultural revolution to the world's most listened genre of music.
and some argue that 1520 Sedgwick Avenue is nothing more than just a residential building. Hip-hop started at block parties and clubs in the New York City of Brooklyn in the late 60's, and paved its way to Queens and Harlem before finally ending up in the Bronx in the early 70's where it was most commercialized.
